BANDS (concept for an internal music app)

Music is part of a creative's every day life. It can keep us going and helps us concentrate through hours of hard work. That is why at Brooklyn United we love to share new music with each other. To better do so, we built a tool we called BANDS. By signing into the BANDS tool all employees at BDF could add their music to a queue where it would be played for the entire company.

The user interface was inspired by the simple visual of a colorful stack of LP records and therefore has an overall tactile aesthetic. With a simple algorithm, background images of the playing track are populated from Google Images. At the base sit horizontal bars which contain the playing band's name and song title. Like an imperfect pile of records, the bars vary in width determined by the length of each song. This project is still in development.
